It’s that time of year again! The leaves haven’t all fallen off just yet, but the pumpkin spice season is already here! And when you drink your first pumpkin spice latte (PSL), that’s when it really starts to feel like fall. Pumpkin spice has a cult following every season for good reason. It has just the right amount of warmth, spice, and sweetness that’ll make you ready to cozy up with fall. It’s hard to say when or how our love for pumpkin spice grew to where we are now, but pumpkin pie spice has been bottled and sold since at least 1934. This spice is perfect for sprinkling over anything for an instant touch of fall.
Fall brings beautiful hues of burnt red, browns, and pumpkin orange everywhere you look. It’s time to embrace the beauty of change and enjoy all that the autumn season has to offer. And of course, one of those is pumpkin everything!
For those who wish pumpkin spice would stay all year round, or those who just want a new way to love it besides in latte form, here are some new ways to satisfy your pumpkin spice obsession!
The go-to for anything is always to put it in a fun food form and enjoy! We know a pumpkin spice latte or pumpkin loaf is always at the top of the list but if you’re in the mood for a flavor adventure, try adding fresh or pureed pumpkin or pumpkin spice seasoning to some of your favorite dishes! You might find some of these sold at restaurants, bakeries, or grocery stores but it’s a little more fun if you try your hand at making these yourself.
Here are our suggestions on what to try to satisfy your pumpkin/pumpkin spice food cravings:
Cookies: Cookies seem to be able to take on any flavor that’s thrown at them. Pumpkin spice is no exception!
Milkshakes: Next time you’re making a vanilla milkshake at home, add pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice seasoning for an easy boost of festivity.
Doughnuts: Stop by your local doughnut shop or fall fair and they’re sure to have pumpkin-inspired pastry treats.
Yogurt: Don’t knock it ‘til you try it! You’re sure to find multiple yogurt brands at your local market that are doing some form of a seasonal pumpkin yogurt.
Cream cheese: Ever wish you could have pumpkin pie for breakfast? Now you (almost) can. Pumpkin cream cheese on your bagel will make it feel like dessert.
Granola bars: Add a little (pumpkin) spice to your on-the-go snack with pumpkin granola bars. Your favorite brands should have these on the shelf for a limited time.
Ale: Your local market is likely to have a variety of options from pumpkin ale to cider that you can choose from. Or, try heading to your favorite brewery for their take on this seasonal favorite.
Lasagna rolls: Pumpkin can be savory, too! Try pumpkin lasagna rolls or ravioli.
Creamy pasta: Pasta goes great with most vegetables, including pumpkin. Think: butternut squash pasta replaced with pumpkin.
Maybe you don’t like to go too crazy with what you subject your taste buds to. It’s okay. That doesn’t mean you can’t still partake in this loveable fall craze. Because we all love it so much (and because it’s in season) there is no shortage of ways to get your pumpkin fix in this season! Here are a few ways to “pumpkin” without having to actually eat it:
Candles: There’s a variety of pumpkin candles on the shelves during this season—from pumpkin cupcake to pumpkin apple, you’re sure to find a scent you love.
Soap: The pumpkin spice obsession has no limits (and we love it!). If you have the willpower to smell delicious and not make yourself hungry, pumpkin scented soap is a great way to bring in the seasonal fun.
Hand sanitizer: A mini pumpkin-scented hand sanitizer gives you a burst of your favorite scent while killing bacteria, to help keep you safe during flu season.
Décor pillows: The seasonal section of stores is likely to have a festive quote or pumpkin-shaped pillow that you can toss on your bed or couch.
Flower bouquet: Our Pumpkin Patch Bouq is sure to give you wonderful seasonal vibes. Add in some cloves and cinnamon sticks and your home will smell like pumpkin spice heaven!
If you like a little more subtlety in expressing your love for this round, orange gourd, opt to go to your local pumpkin patch. Choose the largest one you can find (or carry) and carve it. If you want the decoration without so much of a mess, try picking smaller ones and place them around your house as is or use markers/paint to add a touch of personal style.
However you choose to satisfy your love for pumpkin this season, The Bouqs Co wants to send you warm greetings as you try the newest pumpkin craze with your loved ones.Shop All
