Our Bouqs fam is all about community, and this Mother’s Day, we took this to heart while sharing the #bouqlove.
We first partnered with the Brooklyn Mayor’s Office to celebrate some of the mothers in their local senior centers with a special flower giveaway. The partnership, Operation Rose: The Senior Edition, launched over three days. On each day, each designated center handed out single roses and brought smiles to scores of senior mothers across central Brooklyn!
Day 1 was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Senior Center; Day 2 at Van Dyke II Senior Center; and Day 3 at Crown Heights Center for Nursing & Rehab.
Here are some of the heartwarming photos we received:
Next, we decided to share some local #bouqlove with the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC), an organization located on Skid Row in Downtown LA focused on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness. DWC provides women with a safe place — offering a hot meal, a hot shower, employment and wellness services, permanent housing, and more.
We assembled more than 300 toiletry kits for women coming in to take a hot shower at DWC. We went to DTLA to deliver the kits, and took along some flowers for the residents to help brighten their Mother’s Day. Some of our team members also got to take a tour of the center — and they were so impressed.
One of the team’s favorite parts of their visit downtown was stopping at the Made by DWC Cafe — where the women are able to learn barista skills and retail skills, and sell some of the products they helped create (like super-cool soy candles.)
