Valentine’s Day is just a few days away, and we can guarantee there’s at least one person expecting a special treat from you on February 14th. Flowers are a classic gift, and The Bouqs Company’s new Valentine’s Day catalogue has no shortage of unique arrangements for every important relationship in your life, from moms and mentors to lovers and friends.
We turned to our very own CEO, John Tabis, to help us demystify the gifting game. Co-founding The Bouqs Company in 2012, he’s what you’d call a bit of an expert. So let’s get gifting, shall we?
Procrastinators, Take Note!
John’s first tip is a practical one: lock in your order for Valentine’s Day flowers as early as possible, and try to get your flowers delivered before the big day. Not only does this save time and money, it also ensures your bouquet will get the special attention it deserves!
For those who do plan to pick out their Valentine’s Day gift at the stroke of midnight, we do offer same day and next day delivery options through our network of local florists. However, even our florists may be inundated on that day, so your best bet is to plan early and place your order sooner rather than later.
What’s Their Type?
There’s no insider tip better than knowing your valentine’s favorite flower type beforehand. Still, if you’re not sure what would make their heart flutter don’t fret! John has shopping advice for everyone.
For more traditional types, stick to tried-and-true classics and send roses for Valentine’s Day. Tulips and lilies also make for time-tested gifts. Look for Bouqs that keep it simple and understated with one or two colors and maybe just a single flower type, such as Lovely, Depth, or Valentine’s Day Lilies.
Or, for the non-traditional type, mix it up with more adventurous floral varieties like lisianthus, or tropical flowers, which can all be found in our catalog.
If you know someone with a more modern style, opt for clean, monochromatic Bouqs with an elegant structure, like white roses or white mini calla lilies, which you’ll find in Love Letter or Charisma.
Is your recipient up on the latest trends? If so, we suggest carnations (which are making a big comeback!), sunflowers and daisies, or an arrangement with succulents that they can replant for long-lasting-love. Our favorite succulent Bouqs are Wild About U and Thoughtful.
A Way with Words
Once you have your special someone’s flowers picked out, the next step is deciding what to say in their personalized card. A simple but thoughtful message goes a long way, but if you can’t think of what to say, and Shakespeare’s sonnets aren’t really your style, our resident wordsmiths have put together some suggested notes to help step up your game. You can fill in the card with a single click.
All About Presentation
When it comes to the big day (February 14th!), John reminded us that it’s important to put some work into how you share your handpicked Bouq! For the uber-organized, plan to have the flowers delivered to your own address a few days beforehand so you can arrange the Bouq yourself and add a personal touch before hand-delivering them to your valentine.
If the recipient lives out of town or you’re down to the eleventh hour, you can always have their Bouq delivered directly to them. Do your best detective work to discreetly find out their schedule to make sure they are home to receive it when it arrives.
Your next-best option is to have your valentine’s Bouq delivered to their place of work. Just be sure to include a vase so they have something to put the flowers in right away.
The Gift That Keeps on Giving
John’s best tip is one you’ll really like: take all the stress out of Valentine’s Day by opting into a Special Occasions Subscription! You can now schedule Bouq deliveries ahead of time on specified dates like Valentine’s Day, so you’ll never worry about last-minute planning again. Plus, you’ll save 20% on Bouqs and get free delivery every time.
You can also make Valentine’s Day last even longer by gifting your special someone their own monthly flower subscription. That way, they’ll be reminded of your love well beyond February!
