If you’re a fan of supporting local florists and sustainable flower farms, then you might be familiar with our very own tulip talent, Farmer Lane DeVries! Not only is he the head of Sun Valley Floral Farms in California, but he also has such a passion for his work and creations that it just does not go unnoticed in the industry.
Not only does DeVries have a whole lot of dedication to farming, but he also has a big heart by always finding ways to give back to the community. Farmer Lane loves to donate some leftover blooms to local hospitals, charities, service clubs and fundraising events – and we are all about these acts of kindness!
That’s why we are so proud to announce that during the annual flower naming ceremony at the International Floriculture Exposition, DeVries was awarded with a new tulip variety named in his honor: Dutch Lane!
Dutch Lanes are pink tulips bred in Holland and are meant to commend his suggestion of bringing up International Women’s Day as a sales opportunity in the floral industry 10 years ago. This new bloom is actually a crossbreed of Prominence x Ballerina x Tres Chic from Vertuco BV.
Join us in celebrating Farmer Lane and all the wonderful staff of Sun Valley Floral Farms for all their hard work and overall love for eco-friendly farming!
