It’s that time of year where we put on our favorite get ups and take to the streets looking for candy and the spookiest party. We know Halloween can sneak up on us, so we rounded up our three favorite last minute halloween costumes. These costumes are crowd pleasers and party tricks, and you just need a couple of Bouqs to pull them off. Whether you have 2 days or 2 hours, we have a floral inspired costume for you.
First up,
Carmen Miranda aka Chiquita Banana
Supplies
- Your favorite tropical Bouq! Might we suggest Staycation or Promenade?
- A plastic headband
- Flower foam
- Clippers
- Fake fruit
- Hot glue gun
DIY Steps
First, using your hot glue gun, glue the headband to the bottom of your flower foam piece. Let dry for 5-10 minutes.
Next, using ingredients from your tropical Bouq, start by adding greenery along the top of the floral foam. This is as simple as trimming the stems at a 45 degree angle and sticking them into the foam piece. Don’t worry about the sides of the foam, your festive headscarf will cover it up.
Begin adding in floral stems, loofas, and mini bananas (!). Get creative here! Make Carmen proud.
Lastly, glue the fake pieces of fruit on top of your head piece. Be generous with the glue here as the fruit tends to want to jump ship.
And there you have it, a festive and fun tropical inspired headpiece. Polish off the look by adding a brightly colored headscarf, a bold lip, and a statement earring.
Frida Kahlo
A little less time, but need a statement look? Another favorite flower costume of ours is Frida Kahlo. This look is entirely dependent on her signature flower crown and we promise you can pull this off with an hour of your time and a good eyebrow pencil.
Supplies
- Our Bouq, Rose All Day
- Floral wire
- Floral tape
- Clippers
DIY Steps
First steps first, using the floral wire, measure the length of wire you will need by wrapping a piece around your head. The two ends of the wire should be overlapping a bit at the back of your head. Cut the piece of wire using the clippers and make a loop at each end of the wire. Wrap the floral wire in tape so that the flowers stay put.
Next, cut a piece of greenery and a rose bloom (leaving only an inch or so of stem) and tape them together using the floral tape. Repeat this step 8-9 times depending on how long your wire base is.
Start taping the stems to your wire base. Make sure you keep the tape nice and taught.
Repeat this step until you get to the very end of your wire base. We used about 10 blooms for our crown.
Lastly, tie a ribbon on each loop of the crown. You will use these to make sure your crown stays nice and snug.
Voila! A finished floral crown. And we all know that Frida crown is nothing without a penciled in brow. Pencil in the brow, pull out your most festive shirt (we found this one on Amazon) or dress,
The Florist
Luck for you folks, this last costume, The Florist, takes no time at all. There are hardly any steps in this DIY, but we wouldn’t leave you hanging without a supply list.
Supplies
- Your favorite Bouq. We chose Sunglow (hello double blooms).
- An apron
- A market basket
- Clippers
DIY Steps
Get all dolled up in your apron, and add your blooms to the basket. We thought the clippers in the pocket were a nice touch and if you truly want to be the belle of the ball, pass out flowers at the halloween party! Your friends will love you.
