Q: Tell us a little bit about your business!
A: Our family has been farming citrus in the Central Valley of California for over five generations. As a small family farm, it can often be difficult to keep up with the big corporate farmers and the current generation was starting to feel defeated. So, we started this company to breathe new life into the family business and quite frankly, we have not seen our dads (the Farmers) this excited for the future of farming in a long time! It brings us great joy to share our family’s citrus with our customers and find great satisfaction knowing they will be able to experience how citrus should actually taste. And so, we ship our best and our freshest fruit to our customers in hopes that they get a little bit closer to eating an orange right off the tree.
Q: Which women have you been inspired by during your career?
A: The working moms we have encountered during our careers who pull off executive roles and motherhood with grace.
Q: Tell me about a small daily ritual that makes you feel powerful/like yourself.
A: I think for all of us, it’s that first deep breath of gratitude (it could be a sigh of relief) at the end of the day where we think "Yes, girl! Another day of getting it done."
Q: How do you celebrate the women in your life?
A: Through encouragement and respect. We are lucky to be surrounded by such strong, powerful women and the support we provide each other is really the foundation of how we get things done and do them well.
Q: What advice would you give to women who want to start their own business?
A: It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you marry ‘just one step at a time’ with your long term vision. Continue to balance those two things daily, and you will surely get things done. Check in with yourself. Monthly or quarterly, write down everything you’ve accomplished and celebrate it. Those celebrations start to turn blood, sweat and tears into something that becomes powerful versus painful and you’ll begin to push your limits further.
